Coming Home // Liz Stringer
This is a music video for one of our favorite artists of all time.
Liz Stringer relocated from Melbourne to London in 2024 and we immediately started hatching plans to create her next music video. This is a special one. It’s the first music video we have made since coming to London and features some of our dearest friends.
Shot by the unbelievably talented Joey Knox, featuring fun VFX trickery, an made possible by some of the kindest people we know in London… it’s a special clip.
You’re not seeing double, there really are two Liz’s in this clip.
The End, The Beginning
This is kind of where it all began for Alicia and Archie. Our Masters graduating film. It still holds a special place in our hearts.
A short film which explores a family dynamic in a small country town as the world comes to its end. We needed to simulate massive plastic tents going over houses and as such leant heavily on stop motion animation.
It is a warm hearted, thought provoking piece that encourages the audience to consider their relationships with those close to them in an ever changing world.
This film did the international festival rounds in 2020 and had amazing success! Notably winning best original score at Flickerfest! Our composer Jorde Heys is a joy to work with… hire him… you won’t regret it!
It’s currently hosted on ABC IVIEW. We hope you enjoy it!
Call Me Puritan
Our second short film takes a different turn. Still existential, still apocalyptic, still funny, but a little darker.
The project was conceived during a poetry performance at one of our exhibitions that we hosted in Melbourne (2021). Our dear friend Will Hall wrote and performed a monologue that was so captivating that we turned it into its own short film.
The result is a surreal depiction of a character at his wits end, underpinned by a mammoth performance from Will! Beautiful image making from the wonderful Dan Bolt and costume design by the now Iconic Bella Redmen Brown (of BRB fame)
We’re very proud of this piece and to be honest… it hasn’t been seen by enough people. Send it to a friend.
The Cruellest Cut
This music video marks the culmination of a long running collaboration with The Slingers.
The Slingers are our dearest friends and are fast becoming one of Melbourne's most adored bands.
This clip was once again, only possible with the help of a lot of kind people who volunteered their time and expertise. Shot once again by the talented Dan Bolt and designed by incredible photographer Hector Clark (our second time collaborating with the lovely man)
We managed to build a small room and continually shrink the space throughout the shoot in an attempt to give a claustrophobic and haunting quality. The bands spectre hangs over the brilliant Fin Pearson who gives a charming performance (another serial collaborator of ours)
On Hold
This short film musical is the only film made outside of Alicia and Archie’s long standing partnership. Alicia produced this film before Archie’s arrival but is just so damn charming that Archie insisted that it remains on the website for years to come.
Written and Directed by the eye wateringly talented Jake Neilson, it is a story for any artist who has ever been on the brink of giving up and packing it in.
It is clever, funny and tear soaked. If you’re needing inspiration to not give up, take 30 minutes and relax into this stunning short film.
(NOTE: this particular blurb was written by Alicia’s biggest fan… Archie)
When You Know
Our first ever collaboration with The Slingers. This clip was shot at the farm of Archie’s grandparents Peter and Mary and their beautiful property tops and tails the piece.
The film was also our first collaboration with Hector Clark who designed the video and brought his iconic high contrast, graphic styling that has now become synonymous with his own photography.
Another recurring collaboration begins here. Our waiter / dancer is played by Will Hall who would later go onto inspire and star in Call Me Puritan.
…sometimes we do miss Melbourne and it’s brilliant people. This clip certainly tugs on the nostalgia strings.
Joosts Greenhouse
What did you do during lockdown? We spent a large portion of it shooting a documentary about visionary designer Joost Bakker and his utopianist dream to build a self-sustaining house in the heart of Melbourne's CBD.
He did it by the way. He pulled the whole thing off and it was bloody brilliant!
You can watch a snippet of it here which is from the very early days of the project. You can listen to Joost dreaming up what would turn into a breathtaking building with thousands of different sustainable systems inbuilt!
This was a special project throughout lockdown. Archie on the camera, Alicia on the sound and interviewing.
The Glouceshire Recordings
A recent project. Four best mates, a camera and a grand piano. We went away with Robert J Mahon of the Slingers and recorded three live tracks in between cooking, drinking and frolicking.
A special weekend away creating with our dearest mates turned into a beautiful intimate piece that shows an unpolished version of the Slingers classic tracks interspersed with some candid moments of laughter and joy.
